New Year's Intentions
There seem to be a lot of opinions about "New Year's Resolutions". Now whether you love them, hate them, think they're silly, or really don't have an opinion I think it is important to recap on the previous year's successes and to set intentions going forward. This does not necessarily need to be done at the beginning of the year, it can be an ongoing thing or you can just do it whenever you want. I just think the beginning of the year is a nice place to begin, if you fall down 3 weeks in, just begin again.
1. Don't put it down, put it away
Leaving school and now being in the work force means I am doing less things, but I feel just as tired. I also think that volunteering, classes, homework, and work allowed me to have variance in my day that actually gave me energy because I was constantly shifting gears. Since graduating I have found that I can waste hours just "relaxing". This is usually prefaced by tossing my coat on to a chair and leaving my purse by the door. Instead I want to make an effort to take the extra 2 minutes and put things away so I don't have to do a weekly 4 hour clean of my condo, I can tidy during the week and do the larger cleaning items in 1.5 hours instead.
2. Cook more
While this will tie in with attempting to be healthier and hopefully losing some weight in the process; I love to cook and bake. So why the heck wasn't I doing more of it? Get ready for more recipe posts in 2018!
3. Be more graceful with things that I don't necessarily love
I am a person that really feels mostly positive about people, places, things... I am pretty easy to get along with and I really am an optimist. But while it takes a lot to bother me or make me feel negatively, when I do feel yucky about something it eats at me. So I am going to make a concentrated effort to just let yucky things go; I think that this is the next step in my journey in positivism, but will also help with my anxiety.
4. Create less waste
Last year my partner and I switch all of our household, skincare, hair care, and makeup items to cruelty free. I am becoming more and more aware about how how we are impacting our planet. So this year I will focus more on composting when possible, being strict about recycling and trying to use things that can be reused.
