I have been a failure on the blogging front of late! Life has been full and busy as we enter the dog days of Summer; I just got back from a quick jaunt to Calgary after seeing Miike Snow. Let me tell you, that was a great show. The entire band had this amazing stage presence and their mix of synthesized alternative rock/pop was amazing! Plus their lead vocalist was like a dirty, sexy Jesus, and I am so into that.
Sign me up! I would definitely see these guys again, their biggest hit right now would be 'Genghis Khan' but honestly the entire set was phenomenal and at times trance like. 10/10 would recommend.
Of course any trip to Calgary is punctuated with shopping, honestly the shopping where I live is so abysmal that even one of the sales clerks commented on it after I told her where I was from. Hey Mister Mayor, instead of looking for oil when the market is flooded with low priced oil maybe we should look at improving the shopping selection here! Anyway I found a darling long line cardigan at Wilfred in Chinook. In classic white girl fashion, my focus has clearly shifted from Summer to Autumn on the shopping front.
This sweater is extra fine merino wool and alpaca, it slips on to your body and is a warm hug for the rest of your day. It truly is stunning. It really is a piece that I foresee owning for many many years. The prices at Wilfred are not exactly cheap, but they are not bad either. They have beautiful items, but the star of their store was definitely their knits. I think you need only be a smart consumer and look to some of their knits as investment pieces. Similar textiles and aesthetic pieces can go for double the price. While some will argue that they can find similar aesthetics at other stores I will once again say, the beauty is in the fabric! I will update this post with photos of the sweater when I get home (I can't find this item in their online store), it truly is a beautiful piece and I am excited to wear it this Autumn!
The next exciting purchase consisted of two new plant babies! Calgary really is one of my favourite places because they really have everything I could ever want! Nestled in historic Inglewood is a little store called Plant. They sell different kind of plants, but their focus is Terrariums. I have actually purchased all 4 of my succulent plants from here. They really do beautiful work!
After that exciting 2 day trip I am back to work for a few days. Joel has been in Las Vegas so I look forward to hearing about all the fun things he has done while away. The rest of August will be filled with activity, it is our 6 year anniversary and then Joel's birthday so look forward to more fun filled posts! I promise to be better!
