The Beginning of this Journey

I don't know about you, but the last time I had a "Summer Bod" I was 19 and just had my wisdom teeth out. Recently I was out with friends, and over a post exam brunch the general consensus around the table was that we had spent the majority of our late teens and early twenties trying to lose weight. The trend in recent years had shifted away from loathing your body if you did not look like a runway model to celebrating strong bodies, lean bodies, curvy bodies, and all the body types in between.

In the Winter of 2014 I managed to get down to my lowest weight of my twenties, 135 lbs. This was mostly achieved through a low carbohydrate lifestyle called the Ketogenic Diet. I felt amazing, my body was no longer stiff and uncomfortable and I did my skinny jeans some justice. Alas, being in a very happy relationship and the siren call of carbs I have since ballooned up to my highest weight ever, 170 lbs. Now I am blessed with pretty even weight distribution but still, 170 lbs on a 5'1 and a half frame was not something I was particularly pleased about.
 

In an effort to combat further weight gain I decided to begin a keto lifestyle once again and I wanted to blog about my efforts. I am also hoping to use this blogging experience to keep me accountable to my weight loss goals but also to have a little fun! I want to feel comfortable in my own skin, while this is not always achieved through weight loss, I want to become in tune with and nourish my body. I hope to achieve this through healthy eating, exercise and simply being aware of my body. 

I am going to challenge myself to losing 40 lbs in 4 months. In the Autumn I will be going back to school for the final year of my undergrad and then I must venture out into the big scary world of adulthood. I am hoping to rope some of you into my 4 month weight loss journey but also showcase other aspects of my life. So buckle in for a ride that includes more cheese (in every sense of that word, prepare for some jokes) than I care to put into myFitnessPal, lots of clothes, travel and fun!
